problems with scores in Hy-Tek

This is a dumb problem. I hope someone smart out there knows the answer!

When we "run" a meet in Hy-Tek and "score" an event, Hy-Tek pops up a screen with the results for that event. At the bottom of that event results, it is posting the "Combined Team Scores after x-number events," which is to say, it is adding the boys' & girls' team scores together and printing that out. So, when I print the report, I have to cross off the combined scores and hand write the actual boys' or girls' scores before stapling it to the board outside. (I know, I don't HAVE to, but I hate posting useless info.)

Does anyone know how to make it only print the girls' team score after girls' events and boys' team scores after boys' events? I haven't found the right box to click for that option. And I personally don't understand why it would have the "combined" option as its default.

 I have Hy-Tek release 2.0Ch

I've wondered the same thing.  Setting the Group By Division in the scoring section doesn't seem to address the problem for the Run meet printouts.

(The other thing that drives me crazy is not being able to make changes to a heat/flight once it's been scored, such as if you forget to enter in results for another heat on a separate tab.  There's probalby a workaround somewhere, but I haven't found it.)

The DOS version of Hytek was so, so much better than the Windows version in some of those areas...  The Windows version is easier to navigate, but I don't find it to be any more functional.

Dan, I know how to fix the heat/flight thing after it's been scored: go back into it and remove just one result. That allows you to make changes. The most common thing that happens to me is finding after 4 flights of entries that someone was added to the event at the event and thus are not in the computer.

Hi Anne,

Hopefully i can help.:  Under Reports select Results. Select all and it should highlight all events.

On the Format tab at the bottom: under Report type <select> TEAM

Next to that is Report Gender Choices <selec> male and female

Next <select> Grouping/Options

Grouping <select> By Division

At the very top <select> Creat Report

it should work.

Anne, thanks, I'll try that.  If it works, our results crew will be relieved!

Manny, I believe what you're describing is only for the reports menu.  Anne was asking about the event-by-event score in the Run menu.  It's nice to be able to announce the scores after each event is printed off, but Hytek spits out combined scoring gibberish.  I can't imagine what they're trying to accomplish with that as a default setting, regardless of whether there's a way of changing it.

Anne and Dan

this will do for you, Try it

At the top of the Run the Meet Menu, you can click Preferences / Team Scores in Run Menu to set your preferences for which team scores to show.

<click> both:  Show Male and Female

good luck...

Manny,

That's the ticket! I never noticed the Preferences option on the Run page. Thanks muchly. We're hosting an Invitational with 21 teams today...it will be nice to post accurate scores.

THANKS!

Thanks for the tips!  We put them to use our last couple dual meets.

Anne's suggestion for being able to edit heats/flights after scoring something was spot on.  Not the most intuitive work around, but simple enough once you know it.

Manny's follow-up on the scoring display only covers half the situation, but it's an important half.  The other half is to change the Scoring preference settings in the meet setup section.  That is for how 2 or 3-way meet scoring is done (i.e. which teams to score against each other and whether or not to score it as combined male/female), while the Run menu section is only for what to display, I believe.  I'm not sure if that's only for on screen or also for the printouts...  The overlap between the two areas is a bit confusing, but if you set both to the desired method, it all seems to work as expected.
