I will have numerous middle school athletes that are registering on the morning of the race so I will need blank labels to assign them a number.  I need to print up labels that have a number and a barcode, but no name.  How do I do this?  Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  This is the first time I've used the software and want it to go smoothly.  Thanks.

Ken, I have never done this before, so I did a little testing to see what might work.  I came up with the conclusion that on the EMMxc ENTRIES tab, I need to create a few fake athletes.  These will then show up on the labels and have a unique bar code.

For the fake athletes, I first tried just typing spaces into the next rows (after the last athlete listed) on the Entries tab.  This doesn't work.  So I typed in the word "New" in the 'FirstName' field.  This worked.  So, if you are alright with the label having a word or even just one letter on them, this should work.

Next, I tried skipping down like 10 blank entries and then typing in some letters.  This proved to work even better.  Importing back to the labels, there were 10 blank labels with athlete # and bar code in between the last real athlete and the 'fake athlete'.

NOTE: I did find a weirdly long delay for my labels to update with the blank ones showing.  I went to work on something else for awhile, and when I came back the file had updated.  If I find out more, I'll pass it on.

Are you using the EMMxc to run the meet, or just for the labels?

If the athlete is not in the system, I don't see a benefit of issuing them a number, as the reason for a # is to link them to an athlete in the system...

Here is what we did for our small meet a few weeks ago:  For athletes that did not have #'s, I gave the coaches blank labels.  When the race was over, I first added all the new athletes to the system, then I scanned the #'s in, pausing at each hand entry to type the athlete name instead, and then resumed scanning #'s.  The manual athlete entry only took me a bit longer, and accommodated the athlete adds at our early season meet.

Let us know what you end up doing.

I see the value.  After people check in, I can give the coach the label and write the number next to the add sheet and my computer person can be inputting the numbers while the race is being run.  The bigger the meet, the more important it would be for timely results.

I often enter unknown1, unknown2, etc.  But you might put latereg1 or or just name them the number ... so number would be on the label twice?  In fact you may be able to do that with a drop down if you number a couple eh?

I didn't let my hytek license run out ... so I have not used EMMxc since the first week I was around here testing things out :-)
