Don,
Yep everyone can see it. :(. I thought I removed that during Track, but I obviously didn't! Oops.
Profile photos and tagged photos will work for XC... It is only the new Athlete Editor that hasn't made it's way to XC yet.
DJ: my picassa did not say 1G and in my "haste" I was concerned ... only 1024KB ... until I look more carefully duh:
I guess that should cover me for a while lol. Not to mention the next 20Gig is at the whopping price of $5 a year -- shoot my own terrabyte would only be $256 a year! So I guess I'm good there.
Josh: I see, I didn't realize I could do the profile photo in cross yet, I thought that was a feature added by the new athlete editor. I'll go play there some more. I'm not to track yet ... still a month away, cleaning up cross still. I guess I'll go back to doing mug shots like I used to, or editing action shots.
Slight modification - the athlete profile tagger is intended to work in both XC, and TF, but at the moment is having trouble in both. We are working on it, but don't be surprised if you get strange results (like only being able to give one athlete a profile photo). We hope to have this fixed in the next week.
Yes I see, the pictures come out on the page (is it that athlete's tagged photos on his/her page?)
I don't get what the little polka dot above the pictures on the athlete's page are for (it's a link to nothing?)
Why can I not tag coaches?
I get this:
when I try to add an album, what's up with that?
Question does one athlete profile pic knock off any prior athlete profile pic for that athlete? I think so.
I've probably hi-jacked your thread -- I love the new athlete uploader.
Josh: The above picture that Don has included is what I was talking about the other day when adding a new picasa account. It is not very intuitive at all...but you mentioned this being on their end (picasa) and not a report that we generate. Is this the case?
Don: You do not have to add a new picasa account when adding a new album. Unless you are taking David J's solution to getting more free space!
Yes I get that ... what I was missing I guess is that I need to go to Picassa first and add my photos ... rapidly figuring it out. But the first time I got that gosh awful button thing ... it claims its on your end when you look at the url.
At the very least take me through a brief explaination page on my way to that piece of garbage page with the buttons :-)
I'm good on storage for a bit it appears. I'm not that into pictures myself -- unless we are talking about barefoot waterskiing ...
Uh, that page is an internal testing tool.. unsure how you got a link to it, so I won't try to explain it
well it was easy ... I clicked here:
+ Add a Google PicasaWeb account...
However now it is not doing it, but in the last two days it did it three or four times ...
Maybe because I have verified now, maybe because something changed ...
Anyway pictures are beginning to work for me now.
I should have added that I was going to look into and fix the problem. It has been fixed. The page was generating an invalid link, which was sending you to the testing page. Sorry about the trouble, and thanks for bringing it to my attention!
Thanks for the pics. They definitely help us determine the problem more rapidly!
A couple of things with the new athlete roster.
When opening the editor, it seems to default to Outdoor 2010, is there a way it can default to the season we are in (Indoor 2010)
After adding a new athlete instead of having the cursor go back to the first name field, it drops down to the search field, thus forcing me to use the mouse to go back to the first name field for adding another athlete
Would it be possible to have custom division names or add an additional group category as I would like to separate my teams by groups (sprinters, hurdlers, middle distance, distance, jumpers, throwers, etc)
I haven't tried uploading an entire team yet, so I don't know how that goes.
Thanks.

You are correct, but why not upload a roster anyway using an excel file? Much easier.

I think the answer is yes. Click on Edit Fields. I made the sort order 1 for it. Give it a title like Classification, then under that type each one (save and it gives you another blank), and for type choose true/false and then they are check boxes. Does that help you?
Pete, here are two screen shots, first setting up the classifications by "type of athlete" -- note they can be more than one type.
And showing how you can sort then on classification.
and
Looking at athletes via the new editor today, I am getting a drop down error message with every action:
An error has occurred: scrollToAthletData is not defined
Also, when I click on the previous next buttons, the data box jumps down or up but leaves a big gap in the row it vacated - ie the row does not resize to normal.
Those little problems aside, since I do a lot of roster grooming–hunting down duplicate names for same athlete– it does take a lot more time now. First, only the selected year's names can be clicked on - so I have to change years. Second, when on the cross country side I can see the track people's names but I have to go to the track side to tidy them up. Here is a case when the old system worked better for me.
cosmetic - •when in cross country side and track names are displayed, rather than a blank cell in the active seasons (btw whoever suggested that concept should get an extra Christmas brownie) why not add the indicator "track athlete" or some T&F icon.
•Also, in far right activate/deactive column, the X seems a little ambiguous. Where I live, X means bad answer or mistake. How about an spike shoe icon? Still ambiguous probably. Perhaps the header cell should read "DeActivate for this season"
Holiday cheers, Bruce
Sorry about that error! I've deployed the fix. For the next day or so, if you continue to get the error message, you may need to clear your cache. If you try it after that, you shouldn't need to.
We'll look at ways to improve the other things you mentioned. Thanks!
