This is probably the most laborious part of the process, especially for historical meets ...

Thought you might like to see how I do it as that may help improve the process.

This particular one is complicated by the fact that there is another regional the same day and I start to use that and then have to back out ... I use the back button (of screen).

I also use the find function (of screen again control+f in firefox) to find the course.

Near the end I used the back button after showing that it jumps out of 2006 when I save the meet.  Faster to go back than to click on 2006 and then find the right meet.

My keyboarding is slowed/hampered by the screen capture, so that is a little rougher than it might be in real life, because I get a little hesitation/flicker.

Note that I delete both JV races ... I wish there was a duplicate meet function so that I could grab the Holly meet for D3, dupicate and rename the structure of the meet.

Anyway, for your enjoyment ...

Jing Thing - creating a cross country meet

Step two,

Assuming I have not used emmXC and thus cannot auto-upload my results, then after the meet I get results and get ready to upload results.  I can make the upload file in excel (most people do I think), however, I have written a little program to do the job for most meet formats.  Here it is in action:

Here is a video that shows the following:

1. the power of notetab ... I take a list like this:

[blockquote]

1. Anthony Wile, Birmingham Brother Rice, 15:54.1
2. Ben Miller, Warren deLaSalle, 15:60.0
3. Neal Duggan, Troy-Athens, 16:08.5
4. Chris Tassen, Troy-Athens, 16:12.2
5. Adam Haag, Warren deLaSalle, 16:15.2
6. Phil Fattore, Detroit U-D Jesuit, 16:26.7
7. Jeff Kuhl, Clarkston, 16:29.3
[/blockquote]

[blockquote]

DivId    Gender    Place    FirstName    LastName    School    Time
1    M    1    Anthony    Wile    Birmingham Brother Rice    15:54.1
1    M    2    Ben    Miller    Warren deLaSalle    15:60.0
1    M    3    Neal    Duggan    Troy-Athens    16:08.5
1    M    4    Chris    Tassen    Troy-Athens    16:12.2
1    M    5    Adam    Haag    Warren deLaSalle    16:15.2
1    M    6    Phil    Fattore    Detroit U-D Jesuit    16:26.7
1    M    7    Jeff    Kuhl    Clarkston    16:29.3
[/blockquote]

Ready for upload.

I then show how I upload --

I paste it vs a file,

I click next and match schools -- this is an especially bad set of matches so that takes a while to get right obviously

I click next and match athletes -- here is my point -- I would have to click on only like two of those ... the rest don't have matches, I just wasted moments of my life that I didn't have to

I click on next

I always go bottom to top

This is showing one meet from the MHSAA archives (in horrible run on sydex format ... AP format sort of) to Uploaded at ANet.

I tried to use cut/paste on screen as well as alt+tab to move between programs which is slower than my usual control + a, control + c, control + v

I have one big mistake as I have been converting the team scores to html mark up -- you see I do that part twice once without markup and once with ... the markup is added in notetab, from a menu, modify, text to html with paragraph tags.  I use a clip to insert my posted by info so that people know the origin.

Then I do a couple of manual cuts of extra junk left over in the file, run the clean sydex notetab clip -- note the first and last name editor for people with three names ...

mary jane jones

or

mary von tropp

where does the name break ...

I upload and then we are back to where I did a third capture (of a different meet of course).

But I think you'll see half of the time is really spent creating the meet.  When the meet already exists like it did here, I can do a meet like this pretty quickly.

I look forward to when ANet scores meets on their own like track and I can discontinue having to post in scores ... that's really not that efficient.  I know it's on your list.  If you can score a hypothetical you can score a single meet by division and gender :-)

So here it is from the state archives to AN.net ...
