Day of meet checklist

I'm wondering if a coach who has used the Excel Meet Manager can put together a 'day of meet' checklist for a hosting school to assure a successful meet.

We are looking at using it next year. While I can get my head wrapped around getting all of the entries done online, I'm wondering about the day of (ie. printing bar codes/labels, downloading, tracking/recording times and exporting to excel, how many computers, finish chute setup, how many personnel to have in the chute timing/transcribing etc etc etc etc)

I realize that it may look a little different for various successful coaching/hosting instances, but a checklist/direction sheet such as this would be invaluable for newbies like me!!!

Downloading times

So, we're going to by a bar code scanner from VSAthletics.com. I'm guessing it'll work fine to scan the barcodes into your meet manager. If we buy a timer will we be able to download the recorded times from the timer into the meet manager? or will we have to do it the old fashioned way (input by hand)? we have a 7 team league final comming up in a couple of weeks and I'm looking to streamline the input.

Microsoft Visual Basic ERROR

Hey Gang,

When I open the Meet Manager I get a Visual Basic error:

Run-time error: '-2147467259(80004005)

method 'add' object 'CommandBarControls' failed

Presently, I just acknowledge it, close the window, and it seems to work fine. Should I be worried about this? I'm running Vista on my laptop.

We have a meet on Tues. I just want to know if it'll be O.K.

Day of race labels

I will have numerous middle school athletes that are registering on the morning of the race so I will need blank labels to assign them a number. I need to print up labels that have a number and a barcode, but no name. How do I do this? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is the first time I've used the software and want it to go smoothly. Thanks.

Help- results not entering past 10.

I've been testing out the EMM, however when I get to the 11th finisher, it does not continue to place the finishers. It stops at 10. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Printing results

Love the program by the way, but when I use the merge schools and print selected schools the print team score option only prints scores. In the future, do you plan on allowing the printing of athletes names, places, and times (the 5 scorers and 2 "bumpers") for each team with the scores?

Also, when I tried to upload my meet from yesterday it took me a while (10-15 mins.) to discover I needed to take myself out of "Advanced Scoring" back to "Simple Scoring", reload results before uploading back to Athletic.net. Do you mention this in any of the tutorials?

I have been trying to download entries for a meet I am hosting tomorrow. I cannot find the "download entries" page on athletic.net to locate the ID number. HELP! where is that page?

CC meet manager

I downloaded the meet manager onto my desktop to try out and have entered the race entraints manually. Most of our entrains are not all school based. I now realized that I have no way to enter race day entraints and also since my computer is at home I will not be able to get results entered quickly. Another coach has access to a lapto that we can take to the race site but I am wondering what the best way to transfer information to that laptop is. Can you help?

This is our first time to host a meet so, I would appreciate all the help you can offer.

Scenario: I have entered all data and printed labels. It is race day and coaches come up to me and say, I have some new runners that need to register. How do I get labels made for them? Can I somehow just assign them a number that we can hand write on a label or do I need to print a new label (seems tough when you have 30 labels per sheet). or ???

Scanner

I really like the idea of using a scanner. It should really speed up the time through the finish chute for us. Does EMMXC automatically recognize a scanner is present or do I need to go through a set up process?

If a runner's label falls off and they don't remember their number I believe that I can manually select their name from a list and move on through the line. True?

What happens if a runner comes through that did not register? Is there a way to put in a placeholder or do you just not record them and remember that the timing system is off by that runner?

Importing Data

Can I import entry information from an excel sheet. Let's say each school in an invitational sends me their entries in a spreadsheet in a specific format; can I automatically import those in or do I need to type in each entry manually?

Getting times

I have a meet where we are putting in 2-300 runners at a time. How can we get times into the EMM without hand typing them all?
