I have been cleaning up old past year's data for athletes with incorrect and inconsistent names to get the reports to work correctly but some of them still don't appear right (I might have messed up the data?).   The data appears to be correct to me now in Edit Athletes Roster and in Meet Results but the Report data doesn't seem to work as I would expect.   I wonder if this is a problem related to my data entry and possible errors or if the actual problem is a report for an athlete who doesn't have data for a year between two years with data.   Or some other problem.

In any case, could you please investigate the problem I have found.   Try looking at Rocklin High School Team Summary and Athlete Profile for "Tori Shirhall" for year 9 and 10 and 11 in 2007 and 2008 and 2009.   She was on roster all 3 years but apparently only has data for 9 and 11 years.   The reports that should show multi-season data only show year 9 or year 11 but not both.

On a related note, when cleaning up inconsistent names is there a best practice?  I have been creating a consistent name (Tori) in each year roster and then editing meet result entries manually and switching from incorrect name (Torrie) to new correct name.   Then after making changes I change roster to make the incorrect name a NO so it is no longer available.

One other thing related thing, I was unable to change the name of a person in a relay leg from the old incorrect name to the new correct name.   So there are still old relay leg entries that are incorrect.

Thanks in advance, your support is great.   =)

This will be a partial reply.  We'll have to get back to you on some of these issues.

Best practice for fixing athletes is to simply make the athlete names identical on the Edit Athletes page.  That night our automatic cleanup process will come through and merge these athletes.  You shouldn't need to edit the results, as the results will get merged as well.  Note that the merge will only happen that night, though, so you will see both athletes for the remainder of that day.
