Would there be a way to allow a host team to allow participating teams to request certain lanes for their runners? For example, in a tri-meet, our league has set lane assignments for each team for each event. Say our team gets lanes 3 and 6 in the 400m, another team gets 1, 4, and 7, and the third team is assigned lanes 2, 5, and 8. I want to put a certain runner in lane 3 for whatever reason but the host team has no way of knowing that. They may download the entries from athletic.net and seed based on times which would put my athlete in lane 6. Then the athletes have to go and change their lanes and names and may run into questioning that wastes time, etc. However, if I, as the coach, was able to pick a lane for the athlete when I registered them, the host team could seed them that way. The way the dual meets have been run in the past, this wouldn't be any different than manually entering each athlete at check-in where they can choose their lane.
I would envision a checkbox that the host team would click to allow teams to enter requested lanes for their athletes on the main meet registration page. Then, when the checkbox is clicked, the host team could enter rules for the lanes. Something like, "Team A is in even lanes", "Team B has odd lanes", or "Team A is assigned letter 'A' for lanes in events as assigned in the league handbook.", etc. When the participating teams register their athletes, they would be able to either type in or choose from a pull-down list the lanes for their athletes. Alternatively, the host team could actually fill in the lane assignments for each team for each event and then the drop down for the participating team only has the possible lane choices.
Would this be a worthwhile feature to add?

We have a policy like this in our league for our Varsity double-duals. The host coach will get the entries in the evening before the meet and send out the .pdf to the other coaches. I know we try to set the lanes up to create the most creative races. If there are any desired lane changes, we just e-mail eachother and get it taken care of.
