Just thought I'd give all of you a sneak preview of the Athlete Editor (v2).

Should be out soon.

Give us your thoughts, if you have ideas!

OK, the new athlete editor is now 99% finished, and ready for you to try out and give us your feedback:

http://www.athletic.net/Edit/Track/Athlete/Editor.aspx?SchoolID=

Copy the above link, and supply your school ID.

The XC version isn't as up to speed yet... will wait till we get Track polished, and roll changes over to XC.

If you have any suggestions, or requests, let us know!

Super duper nice!!

Help needs some work ...

1. when hovered over icon to left of athlete, flyout an explanatory title -- "will open athletes performance history in an new window" or whatever (and add to bottom hints perhaps).

2. Maybe modify a little ...

  • 'Enter' to open an athlete when filtered down to one athlete.
  • Left click to open highlighted athlete
  • 'Up' and 'Down' arrows navigate between athletes when open.
  • 'Esc' closes athlete.
  • 'Ctrl+Shift+F' jumps to 'Search Athletes' box.
  • Edited Athlete Data is automatically saved.

3. "'Up' and 'Down' arrows navigate between athletes when open." yes but the highlighted row doesn't change ... intentional?  Only the editor dialog box changes.

4. "Edited Athlete Data is automatically saved" That is cool is there a way to revert if I screwed up?

5. Order of season links seems goofy:

O-10, O-09, O-08, O-07 | I-10

Should go in order it seems to me ... I'd prefer most current to oldest.

6. MAJOR KUDOS: LOVE THE SORT FUNCTION AT THE TOP -- click to sort by whatever.

7. Not your fault, but control + shift + f in my firefox install gives me web developer data, funky (and really cool) showing inherited css elements ... however if I click it again I get the search box AND the really cool css layers info ... and if I somehow disable it, now that I know where it is ... how do I get it back :-)  I did find I can change the hot key under web developer extension/options/hot keys.

8. I found the add photo option, but am missing the chat, IM and voice functionality ... ;-) j/k  Any more all of our pictures are on facebook.  Parents are putting them up all over the place ... option to use a facebook image?

Probably should go home now.

But I didn't ... shouldn't 09 XC athletes be in here somewhere?  For example see Blake Bitner ... in my boys cross roster ... not in the "all athletes" tab.  So it's an all track athletes tab.  I do see the linked from MS tab in there, nice.  However same problem, it doesn't show xc athletes (which I probably have) it shows nothing because I have no track athletes.

Thanks for the input!

I think I implemented many of your suggestions.

I think it is doing this, currently?  2010, 2009, 2008, 2007.  What are you thinking of?

I think we'll leave control + shift + f  as is.  Sorry it messes with you!

Possibly - haven't looked into it at all.  Do they have an api for accessing photos?  I know they have an api for other purposes.  They don't offer the large version, which would be a bummer, but you are right, a lot of people do use it.

XC Athletes should be in the All Athletes tab now.  Thanks for catching that.

We've made the editor live publicly (beta), so you can post any new thoughts here:
